Devil Dogs
Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 5 tbsp. shortening
- 5 tbsp. cocoa
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Filling
- ½ cup Crisco
- ½ cup confectioners sugar
- ½ cup marshmallow fluff
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
Mix baking soda, sugar, flour, shortening, and cocoa in a large bowl. Combine mixture with egg and milk until smooth. Drop medium spoonfuls of cookie mixture onto a baking sheet and bake in 425-degree oven for 7 minutes . While cookies are in the oven, combine Crisco, sugar, fluff, salt and vanilla in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Gently peel cooled cookies from the baking sheet and spread a thin layer of frosting onto the underside. Repeat for the remaining cookies, forming sandwiches with filling in between.
