Devil Dogs

Ingredients:

Cookies

  • 1 ½ tsp. baking soda

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 cups flour

  • 5 tbsp. shortening

  • 5 tbsp. cocoa

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup milk

Filling

  • ½ cup Crisco

  • ½ cup confectioners sugar

  • ½ cup marshmallow fluff

  • ¼ tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions:

Mix baking soda, sugar, flour, shortening, and cocoa in a large bowl. Combine mixture with egg and milk until smooth. Drop medium spoonfuls of cookie mixture onto a baking sheet and bake in 425-degree oven for 7 minutes. While cookies are in the oven, combine Crisco, sugar, fluff, salt and vanilla in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Gently peel cooled cookies from the baking sheet and spread a thin layer of frosting onto the underside. Repeat for the remaining cookies, forming sandwiches with filling in between.
