  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups chopped onions

  • 1 cup Uncle Ben’s rice

  • 4 tbsp. tomato sauce

  • 5 tbsp. all-purpose cream

  • ½ cup Mazola oil

  • 1 tbsp. dill

  • 1' green pepper

  • 2 lemons

  • ½ tsp. of salt

  • 1 jar grape leaves

  • 4 tbsp. + ¼ cup water

Instructions:

Sauté onions and green pepper with salt and oil in a large pan until soft. Wash rice, then place in pan with onions. Add tomato sauce, cream, juice from 1 lemon, and 4 tablespoons of water. Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes. After letting rice mixture cool, place a small spoonful onto the center of a grape leaf. Fold the bottom portions of the leaf over the rice and roll the leaf once over. Tuck the sides of the leaf in over the rice, then wrap the remaining part of the leaf around the rice mixture. Place the rolled leaf in a pan, open side down. Roll the remaining leaves and place them in the pan with ¼ cup of water. Cover tightly with foil and bake in 400-degree oven for 20 minutes.
